Two men were indicted and incarcerated after the death of a 31-year-old woman in the night from Wednesday to Thursday in Montigny-lès-Metz (Moselle), we learned on Saturday from the Metz prosecutor, Yves Badorc.
One of the two suspects, born in 1999, was indicted for “murder by spouse”, acts punishable by life imprisonment.
He is already known to the judicial services for having been convicted on several occasions.
Having requested time to prepare his defense before the debate before the judge who will rule on his possible placement in pre-trial detention, he was temporarily incarcerated.
The second suspect, born in 1988, was indicted for “murder by a person in a state of intoxication”, acts also punishable by life imprisonment.
He has no criminal record.
A death linked to violence
According to the Metz public prosecutor's office, the autopsy carried out on the victim's body on Friday confirmed that the victim's death was linked to violence and not accidental.
The police were called around 1 a.m. on the night of Wednesday to Thursday due to noise coming from an apartment in Montigny-lès-Metz.
On site, they discovered an injured woman and the two men, who were arrested and taken into police custody.
The victim, taken to hospital, died from his injuries.
On average, a feminicide occurs every three days in France.
According to the Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti there were 94 feminicides in 2023, compared to 118 in 2022.
