Renault is bringing back the iconic 5 as an electric car.
The demand for cheap electricity is enormous.
You can't even order it yet.
Hardly any other topic divides drivers as much as electromobility.
While many people swear by the combustion engine and demonize the electric car at every opportunity, others see it as the future.
A future that often has its price.
In the next few years, more and more affordable electric cars will come onto the market, such as the Renault 5 E-Tech.

Renault 5 E-Tech a complete success: 50,000 people on the waiting list
The French seem to have hit the jackpot with the affordable electric car.
Just a few weeks after the launch, customers were knocking down Renault's doors.
“We have a waiting list of 50,000 people,” brand boss Fabrice Cambolive told

“We will start placing orders in May and delivering the vehicles in September or October.”
It's not without reason that the Renault 5 E-Tech is reminiscent of its iconic predecessor.

The question of whether there are enough customers does not arise.
Probably also because the electric car's appearance is closely based on the iconic Renault 5, which was built from 1972 to 1996.
The challenge, according to Cambolive, is more “to have a smooth ramp-up and be able to supply the first customers by October.”
Renault wants to attract new customers with the 5 E-Tech
Cambolive explained that the manufacturer wanted to conquer many customers with the 5 E-Tech.
They also want to encourage Zoe owners to switch.
Renault sees the 5 as an electric car alternative to the Clio, which was the second best-selling small car in Europe last year.

The exact price for the cheap electric vehicle is not yet known.
So far, interested customers can only purchase an R5-R pass for 150 euros and thus receive priority access to the Renault 5. The price of the electric car is said to be under 25,000 euros.
It is based on the company's AmpR Small platform, which is derived from the CMF-B architecture of the Clio and Captur.
The electric motor of the Renault 5 delivers either 94, 121 or 148 hp.
