The sister of an inmate who died in February by hanging in a cell in the disciplinary unit of Roanne prison (Loire) filed a complaint on Wednesday against the detention center, we learned on Saturday from reliable sources.
In his complaint, Farès Gana believes that “supervisors are responsible for the murder of (his) brother”.
The Roanne public prosecutor's office indicated that it "will be joined to the ongoing investigation into the causes of death".
According to her, “we wanted to make her brother, who was
anti-suicide
” and who had already “overcome” 17 years of detention, pay for escaping from this prison in May 2012.
An escape by trickery, by lining up with the visitors at the end of a visiting room, which, according to him, had been “followed by sanctions among the staff”.

Eddy Gana died on February 4 at Roanne hospital where he had been taken the previous night by emergency services in a state of brain death, union sources from the Prison Administration (AP) indicated.

“On the night of February 3 to 4, he announced at 10:05 p.m. over the intercom of his cell that he was ending his life,” said the Regional Directorate of Prison Administration, adding that a “procedure “Adapted care was initiated in the minutes that followed.”
When they arrived on site, supervisors gave him a cardiac massage which helped restart his heart, the same source said.
Eddy Gana was to be released next November.
He did not benefit from any particular monitoring because he was not declared suicidal, according to union sources and AP management.
He had been placed in solitary confinement following a fight with another inmate.
