It all started from a “remark”.

A 45-year-old man died Saturday evening after being attacked with a knife, in front of his son and his partner, in front of a supermarket in Onet-Le-Château (Aveyron).

His partner was also affected, but her life is not in danger.

The alleged attacker was arrested.

Here is what we know about this affair.

What happened ?

It was around 7 p.m. when a father, accompanied by his wife and their 13-year-old son, left the city's Super U supermarket and saw a vehicle swerving in the parking lot.

Faced with this behavior which he considers dangerous, the 45-year-old man decided to call out to the driver to point it out to him.

According to witnesses mentioned by the local press, an altercation broke out between the couple and the motorist.

The latter would then have physically attacked the parents.

He then allegedly attacked the father and mother of the family with a knife.

When help arrived, the 45-year-old man was in cardiovascular arrest.

Despite lengthy resuscitation attempts, the father succumbed to his injuries in the evening.

The victim died after being attacked by "a driver to whom he had made a remark", confirmed the Aveyron Fire and Rescue Department (Sdis), which specified that the mother was “slightly injured”.

Hospitalized, her vital prognosis is not in jeopardy.

In a state of shock, the child was taken care of by a psychologist.

What do we know about the victims?

According to information from Center Presse Aveyron, the family is neither from Castonetoise nor from Aveyron, but was passing through the region for a few days.

“The mother was heard” by the investigators, said Sunday morning on BFMTV the mayor of Onet-le-Château Jean-Philippe Kéroslian.

“She is very shocked, as is her child.

They were taken care of psychologically,” he added.

“Some witnesses were extremely struck by the violence of the attack and were taken care of by a psychological assistance unit,” the elected official also indicated.

Jean-Philippe Kéroslian had expressed his emotion the day before to Center Presse Aveyron.

“It’s appalling and pathetic, these people were attacked in a cowardly manner.

We can’t imagine that something like that could happen here and in such a way,” he lamented.
