The Iceman will fit between the Mini Cooper and the Countryman/MIIT
For several years now Mini has been working vigorously on their first dedicated electric vehicle.
What started as a concept in 2022 and has since progressed towards a production version while trickling out more details about the model.
It should be officially revealed later this year, while marketing will begin next year as a 2025 model. The images of the car with heavy camouflage released by the manufacturer did not contribute much to the understanding of its final appearance, but this time, it is revealed in its final production configuration.
These photos come from the website of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, to which manufacturers and marketers of cars are required to report new models before they go on the market.
The Iceman will make it possible to push up the prices of the Countryman/MIIT
So what is the Iceman and what is her role?
In Mini's range it has two roles, the first being to be Mini's first dedicated electric car.
The second job is to wedge between the Cooper and the Countryman in the range and allow Mini to offer a relatively cheap crossover, after the new Countryman we recently drove grew bigger and more expensive.
For the sake of comparison, while the Mini Cooper extends to 3.86 meters and the Mini Countryman, which has grown so much that it is strange to even call it a Mini, shows a length of 4.43 meters, the Iceman is in the middle with 4.07 meters.
The height is 1.5 meters, also between 1.46 meters of the Mini Cooper and 1.66 meters of the Countryman.
The wheelbase, from which the interior space of the car is derived, stands at 2.61 meters between 2.53 meters in the Mini Cooper and 2.69 meters in the Countryman.

Despite the use of black plastic in the wheelhouse and the bottom of the bumper, despite the roof rails, the Iceman is neither a crossover nor a "baby countryman" despite the similar design elements, it is closer to a super mini that has grown in height, something in the style of Hyundai and New, only a little lower.
Being fully electric, a car where range is king, the Mini tries to use design tricks to give it a combat look, but avoid as much as possible doing things that compromise aerodynamics and range.
The drive is expected to be entrusted with the electric unit from the electric mini - the base model will have front-wheel drive and a power of 184 hp and a 40.7 kWh battery.
Above it will be the S version with 218 hp and a 54.2 kWh battery.
At the moment there is no data about the JCW version and it is not clear if it will add power or be content with behavioral improvements.
In Israel, the outgoing Mini Cooper electric model is currently priced at approximately NIS 260,000.
Let's hope that the Iceman will get a more competitive pricing, in Europe the estimates are that it will not cost more than the basic Tesla Model 3, which costs about NIS 220,000 here.
