A 13-year-old teenager died Saturday afternoon after feeling unwell during a football match in Sens (Yonne), announced the District de l'Yonne de Football sports association, confirming information from France Bleu Auxerre.
The young player from Onze Saint-Clément was taking part in a match against Jeunesse Sénonaise, in the U15 category (under 15 years old), when in the middle of the match, he complained of chest pain.
Immediately leaving the Fosse aux Cows field in Sens, the boy collapsed a few minutes later.

A cardiac massage was given to him on site by the sports instructors, until the arrival of the firefighters and the Samu who transported him in absolute emergency to the Sens hospital around 2 p.m.
Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, the teenager could not be resuscitated.
“Deep sadness”
“The managers, coaches and volunteers of the two clubs join together to express their deep sadness and assure the family of the young boy of their full support,” indicates the Yonne Football District in a press release.
A fund to support the family was opened by the Saint-Clément club.
Among the hundreds of messages of support on social networks from anonymous people and amateur football clubs, the professional club AJ Auxerre (Ligue 2) said it was “distraught” and presented “its most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.
A psychological cell will be open at the Saint-Clément community hall on Monday from 6 p.m. for people present at the match, the Yonne Football District announced.
