A plane from the German company Lufthansa with 190 passengers on board, bound for Dubai, made an emergency landing in Rhodes on Monday afternoon due to an “electrical” problem, we learned from Fraport , the German operator which manages regional airports in Greece.

Having taken off from Frankfurt in Germany, the pilot of the aircraft, an Airbus A330 according to the website Flightradar24, requested authorization from the Greek airport authorities to land on the island of Rhodes, in the south-east of the Aegean Sea, due to “the presence of smoke inside the plane”, according to initial information from Fraport.

Firefighters intervention

After an intervention by the Rhodes airport firefighters, the aircraft was evacuated and all passengers, safe and sound, will spend the night from Monday to Tuesday in hotels in Rhodes while the "technical and safety control" continues, according to the same source.
