The Fiamme Gialle of the Provincial Command of Treviso seized 27,000 liters of contraband diesel fuel, passed off as an anti-corrosion liquid, and an articulated lorry used for transport, reporting the driver to the Public Prosecutor's Office for smuggling petroleum products.
The operation is part of the prevention and repression of fuel trafficking, taken in Eastern Europe and intended for use in Italian territory in tax evasion.
The judicial police activity was validated by the Judicial Authority of Treviso.
The vehicle, coming from a city in Hungary, near the border with Austria, after having entered Italy from the Tarvisio border crossing, was selected, due to its uncertain proceeding, by the financiers of the Treviso Group, during a night check at the Venezia Est motorway toll booth. The driver, of Slovakian nationality, when asked about the type of goods transported, the origin and destination of the journey, reported that he did not know what type of product he was transporting nor the exact place of final delivery, in the province of Naples , exhibiting an international waybill which indicated a mineral oil called "Anticorrosive Liquid", the name of the selling Slovenian company, the purchasing Italian company and, as the presumed final destination of the product, the province of Naples.
It was the sampling and analysis operations that revealed that the liquid, kept in 27 containers of 1000 liters each, had the same characteristics as automotive diesel, which was later confirmed by the Chemical Laboratory of the Customs Agency and Monopolies of Marghera.
