The 100% electric Vision EQXX concept from Mercedes with a Cd of 0.17 also dispelled the taboo of the Arabian desert in a journey of over 1000 km from Riyadh to Dubai.
Along a route that included busy city streets and open desert, with temperatures up to 34 degrees Celsius, the futuristic battery-powered car achieved a consumption of 7.4 kWh/100 km, which equates to around 0.9 l/100 km for a petrol vehicle, significantly beating its previous record by a considerable margin.

On its third journey, Vision EQXX, which started with a full battery, arrived at its destination with still 309 kilometers of autonomy, demonstrating for the third time its ability to travel over 1,000 kilometers on a single charge, taking advantage of an air conditioning system which, thanks to the multi-source heat pump, it had minimal negative impact on energy efficiency.
Furthermore, thanks to the 117 solar cells on the roof, many of the auxiliary devices were powered, improving their overall efficiency.
Specifically, the system collected 1.8 kWh of solar energy, adding approximately 24 km to the overall range.
Finally, to maximize energy efficiency, the intelligent efficiency assistant was used, which helped drivers adjust speed based on environmental conditions, such as wind.
