An intervention gone wrong.
Two gendarmes were injured this weekend in Moselle in an “ambush” by a mortar shot at their vehicle while they were intervening for violence in a city, we learned on Monday from the prosecutor of the Republic of Sarreguemines, Olivier Glady.
The events occurred during the night from Saturday to Sunday in Behren-lès-Forbach, a town of around 6,400 inhabitants in the east of the department, where around thirty gendarmes were deployed, particularly after the fire of two vehicles .
The perpetrator of the shooting “still unknown”
The vehicle in which three gendarmes were traveling was the subject of mortar fire at the right front window.
Two police officers were injured by flying glass.
Admitted to hospital, they suffered from noise trauma, added the magistrate, confirming information from the regional daily Le Républicain Lorrain.
“Kept under observation”, the two soldiers “left the hospital late Sunday morning”, according to the newspaper.

“The perpetrator of the shots is still unknown,” said Olivier Glady.
“This ambush could find its origin in the unsuccessful attempt to arrest a young person on a two-wheeler during the previous afternoon, a sequence during which the young person had fallen to the ground” before flee, argued the prosecutor.
