The singer Omer Datz passed away at the age of 30 - this was announced this evening (Thursday) by his parents, Moshe and Orna Datz.
Omar was the eldest son of the two singers.
According to their announcement, Detz died of an epileptic seizure.
"The shock and the pain are unbearable," the family members said, "we will thank you for considering our private grief."
Detz, who served in the air force band, participated in the first season of the reality show "The Next Star" - from there his performance of the song "If you still love me" is especially remembered.
He finished fifth that season.
He studied at Yoram Levinstein's acting school, and participated in several theater and television productions, including the drama series "Up to the Wedding", the youth series "Sky", the comedy "Lords of the Council" and the musical "Masada 1942" at the Bhima Theater, the musical "The Children of the Wooden House" at the Theater The Meditech and also in the plays "Pride and Prejudice", "Young Frankenstein" and "First Name".
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease, resulting from abnormal electrical activity of the brain cells.
The disease can appear in any person, at any age, and its causes are many and varied: starting from congenital developmental defects of the brain and genetic diseases, through cerebrovascular events or significant head trauma, and ending with infection or inflammation of the nervous system.
However, in half of the cases the cause of the disease is not known at all.
A patient with epilepsy will experience convulsions, or in their more familiar name - epileptic seizures.
There are many types of convulsions, such as involuntary jumping of the limbs without loss of consciousness, repetitive automatic movements such as opening and closing buttons or chewing movements.
Some types of convulsions will not be manifested in body movements at all, but in disconnection from the environment and inability to communicate.
Most seizures end on their own, but if the seizure does not stop within five minutes, medical help is needed.
