Macabre discovery on the largest beach in Bastia.
A “partially charred body” was discovered early Friday evening in the town of Haute-Corse, we learned from the Bastia Republic prosecutor, who opened an investigation for “voluntary homicide”.
“At this stage, the causes of death are still undetermined and are awaiting on-site and medico-legal findings,” declared the prosecutor, Jean-Philippe Navarre, who entrusted the investigation to the Interdepartmental Directorate of the national police (DIPN) of Haute-Corse.
According to our colleagues from Corsica Morning, the upper part of the body found on Arinella beach is damaged, which could complicate its identification, and the individual is believed to be male.
It was on agricultural land located near the strip of sand that the body was located, according to France 3, which specifies that the alert was given by an individual who notified the firefighters.
The authorities are not favoring any avenue at this time.
