The line is square, but bold and personal, and the front shows off the split light clusters that surround the large grille with the typical V shape.


   The new X-Trail has a style more in line with the first generation than with the previous one, seeing as it marks a return to edges in place of smooth lines.

1.73 meters high and approximately 4.70 meters long, with a width of close to one meter and ninety centimetres, it has an important presence on the road.

The side shows dynamism through the large wheels and the muscular wheel arches, while in the rear view the headlights stand out and underline the width of the car located at the base of the rear window.

It is not a larger Qashqai, but a model with strong characteristics, which stands out in its demeanor and aesthetic details.


    Inside there is room for 7 people if you use the additional seats, which can be folded into the cargo compartment;

in this case the useful volume is reduced to 120 litres, while with "only" 5 seats in use there is 575 liters available for luggage.

Thanks to a wheelbase of 2.71 metres, and external proportions which are also reflected in the space in the passenger compartment.

The latter presents a certain care in terms of materials with many soft surfaces, and boasts several compartments for emptying pockets.

Furthermore, the connection with the smartphone can take place both with Android Auto and with Apple CarPlay, even wirelessly, with the device which, at the same time, can be recharged on the appropriate induction hob.

Finally, to make driving safer, the driver can count on the 10.8-inch head-up display, so as to always keep his eyes on the road.


    At the wheel, one finds the innovative practicality of the E-Power system, the plug-free electric system, represented by a power unit composed of a 204 HP electric engine, through which the energy for movement is sent to the front wheels, and by a 1.5 3-cylinder petrol engine used to power the electric unit and the battery housed in the lower part of the floor, for a system power of up to 213 HP and 525 Nm of maximum torque.

With 4-Orce all-wheel drive, the car gains a second 136 HP electric motor at the rear, which sends power to the rear axle.


   Furthermore, with this system, the X-Trail acts instantly on each individual wheel to always offer the best traction.


   Driving, therefore, is safe, with a constant grip of the car on the asphalt, and even in difficult conditions, or on rough terrain, the Japanese SUV manages to master the situation.

The only limit, in the city, is represented by clutter.

Obviously, it takes advantage of the particularity of the E-Power system, so you fill up at the petrol station rather than at the charging stations, and on average you travel about 16 km with 1 liter of petrol, while in the city you can get around 20km/l.

A modest car, despite its size and the brilliance underlined by the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds flat.

The dynamic picture is completed by a large presence of driving aids which, through the pro-Pilot button on the steering wheel, are called into action to work in synergy.
