The most beautiful avenue in the world is still a popular hunting ground for thieves.
Three men, aged around thirty, were indicted on Friday evening in Paris for organized theft.
These criminals are suspected of having attacked a tourist and stealing his watch worth one million dollars, on the morning of January 1, 2024 on the Champs-Élysées.
“These are facts which harm France because they reflect a very bad image of Paris and lastingly disturb public order,” underlined the prosecutor.
That morning, it was 8:30 a.m. when a customer left the Pullman hotel.
Unsuspecting, this rich American goes back in the taxi line when two strangers surprise him and snatch his watch, a Jacob and Co. Bugatti Chiron, from his wrist.
“It’s a unique model, set with diamonds,” underlines a source close to the matter.
Before their target has time to realize it, the duo rushes into a Renault Clio where there are several accomplices.
In a few seconds, the little city car starts and disappears into the streets of this deserted Paris on the day after the holiday.
