WhatsApp/ShutterStock
WhatsApp is currently used by billions of people for personal and business communication around the world.
However, the more popular the app is, the more attractive it becomes as a target for hackers.
One of the most common scams is impersonating a friend or family member through a seemingly innocent message that asks you for a 6-digit code.
In fact, this code allows a hacker to take over your account and access all your messages, photos and videos.
The best way to protect your account is to enable two-step verification.
This is an optional feature that adds an extra layer of security to your account.
When two-step verification is enabled, any attempt to verify your phone number on WhatsApp must be made at the same time as entering the six-digit PIN code you created.
How do you activate two-step verification?
