Her cries and screams probably saved her life.
During the night from Saturday to Sunday, a newborn was found in the trash room of a building in Saint-Étienne (Loire), report our colleagues from Le Progrès and France Bleu.
The events took place around 4 a.m.
Residents of the building, alerted by the cries of an infant, come out of their apartments and go looking for him, letting themselves be guided by the cries.
The baby out of danger
Very quickly, they identify blood stains which lead to the building's trash room.
They found the newborn there, who still had his umbilical cord, and called for help directly.
The Loire departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis) then hires a Samu team which goes to the site.
The police also went to the scene.
When she arrives, she comes face to face with the baby's mother, a young woman of 20 years old.
The latter, who would have suffered a denial of pregnancy according to the first elements, and would have given birth alone in the bathroom.
She dropped off her baby in the garbage room before coming to pick him up a few moments later.
An investigation has been opened.
Hospitalized, the 20-year-old young woman was placed in police custody.
The baby is out of danger.
