With a curiosity index that has only been increasing since Xiaomi announced its intention to introduce a car, and is certainly at a high level since the car itself was revealed in December, it is clear why the Chinese electronics manufacturer is doing everything to get the most public attention.

Nevertheless, this is one of her most important products, in the development of which she most likely invested the most money of all those that bear her name.

Today, in an Elon Musk-style performance, the company's CEO, Lee John, revealed the target price of the car, which will be "less than 500,000 yuan", or in shekels - about NIS 252,000 before taxes, a price tag very similar to that of Tesla Model S Long Range in China, which costs NIS 620,000 in Israel. This is in preparation for the official price unveiling and the opening of orders which should happen on Thursday.

And this curiosity is compounded by statements coming from the manufacturer that the car will provide technologies and acceleration performance that surpass those of Tesla and Porsche's electric cars.

Across China, the manufacturer's showrooms have already started showing the car.

The pictures show queues of the future customers and curious cell phone cameramen standing next to the cars.

In terms of the technical data that is known about the car, there are two versions, the first with a range of about 670 km and the second with a declared range of about 800 km.

In both cases it is a significant statement that places it at the top of electric cars today alongside the Tesla Model S, Mercedes EQE and others.

Xiaomi's production structure is not similar to that of traditional manufacturers, and it entrusts the construction of the car itself to the parent company of the mother group BAIC, which is partially owned by the government, a kind of "insurance certificate" for them to receive government support.

The price suggests that Xiaomi chose to place its first model in front of Tesla, Mercedes, BMW, NIO and other manufacturers, a market segment full of successful and reputable competitors.

Big news for the automotive world is not certain to be here, and Xiaomi will have to shine on the road to succeed in fulfilling the planned production capacity - 200 thousand cars a year.

The import to Israel is to be carried out by the Hamilton Group, which also imports Xiaomi's mobile and other products, and is expected to launch the new car in Israel in 2025.

The company has not yet announced whether it will operate an independent import activity, or whether it will join an existing car importer in order to make use of its infrastructure and know-how.
