First Europe, then Australia, now it's America's turn.
The Seat subsidiary Cupra is expanding aggressively.
But initially only with two electric models.
For many years, Cupra was nothing more than Seat's relationship with particularly high-performance cars.
In 2018, the previous equipment variant became its own brand with its own models and its own logo.
The young upstart has long since surpassed the Spanish mother in Europe and also has priority when it comes to electromobility.
And internationalization should also be promoted more strongly.
Cupra has long been represented in Australia.
A market that would have been difficult for Seat to conquer because of the name.
Who wants to drive a seat?
The same problem would have arisen in the USA, even if one could certainly have scored points here with the low prices.
Cupra should now take over and fill the gap for affordable cars with a sporty attitude, as
Carscoops
reports.

Cupra expands into the USA: Starting on the East and West Coasts
And the Americans no longer have to wait too long for the sporty Seat offshoot.
“Cupra will enter the US market by the end of the decade,” announced CEO Wayne Griffiths.
“We plan to launch with the battery-electric version of the Formentor and a larger electric crossover SUV.” The larger crossover will therefore be built in the Volkswagen plants in North America.
This also includes Mexico.

The market launch will initially only take place in certain regions of the USA.
“Initially, the Cupra will be launched in select states on the East and West Coasts and in the Sun Belt states,” explained Griffiths.
“This is done through a new distribution model.” The Sun Belt Region includes the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina, as well as the southern areas of Nevada and California.

Before USA expansion: Cupra has big plans in Europe
But until that happens, the Seat subsidiary in Europe has a lot of work to do.
The Tavascan, the brand's second fully electric SUV, is launching this year.
Cupra is also introducing the Terramar, an SUV the size of the Audi Q3.
And the Cupra Formentor is also getting a new generation, which will also be electrified.

Overall, Cupra is accelerating on the path to becoming a purely electric brand.
A compact electric car, the Raval, is expected to follow in 2025.
Technically, the Stromer is identical to the Volkswagen ID.2all.
The dimensions should roughly correspond to those of the Seat Ibiza.
It is still unclear whether the Raval will also find its way to the USA.
If Cupra is successful on the other side of the Atlantic, that is certainly possible.
