There used to be more, today under NIS 140,000 there is really no supply in the family/Walla! system, Udi Etzion, manufacturer
Somewhere in the second half of the 90s and also into the 2000s, a car like the Mazda Lantis and later the 3, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla and others were a real status symbol as long as they had a high-tech company sticker on the back.
An attached car became a kind of basic requirement and in the peak days it became an understandable component of the employment structure.
That reality of complete dominance of the vehicle fleets led to considerable market distortions on the one hand, but on the other hand, the need for these companies to offer a variety of cars for every budget and need also brought a subcategory to the roads - the small family cars.
There were cars like Skoda Rapid, Peugeot 301, Honda Insight, previous Nissan Sentra, Hyundai Accent and i25, Seat Toledo and many others, some were also sedan variations based on super mini like Mazda 2, Kia Rio and station wagon configurations of Super mini cars like Renault Clio, Seat Ibiza and others.
Hyundai Accent, formerly one of the pillars of the category, its marketing in Israel was stopped about a year ago/manufacturer's website
But that category is almost completely extinct.
Changes in consumption habits, the obsolescence of these models and their non-renewal by the manufacturers, who did not see economic logic in investing in vehicles on which the profit margins are not large and other factors simply destroyed them.
At the same time, anyone who looks at the prices of popular family cars today should sit down for a moment, rub their eyes and digest that the Skoda Octavia is walking around with a price tag of NIS 156,000, Mazda 3 and Ford Focus at NIS 152,000, Nissan Sentra at NIS 150,000, Renault Grand Coupe already At 160, the Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla hybrids are already at the 165,000 mark.
So for a customer who is looking for a popular family and does not want to spill over into the world of small crossovers, the selection is currently poor and even more depleted after the cessation of marketing of the Hyundai Accent, one of the mainstays of the category.
It actually focuses on three models, Dacia Logan, Aura 03 (formerly Funky Cat) and Skoda Scala.
Updating the model and its trim levels recently is an opportunity to take a look at the alternatives.

Dacia Logan
The Logan continues Dacia's tradition of offering a small and inexpensive family car for those looking for a particularly unpretentious transportation.
Unlike previous generations, it is much less spartan and with better road behavior than before, but still far from impressive.
Ride comfort is good due to soft suspension calibration, but no one will fantasize about driving pleasure.
Also because of lukewarm performance from the 1.0 liter engine with three cylinders and too much noise.
If you are not particularly ascetic, go for the higher trim level, which for an additional NIS 5,000 brings light rims, climate control and keyless drive.
Another compromise you will be required to make is safety, the car has automatic braking, but without pedestrian detection and the warning for not keeping the distance and deviating from the lane you will receive from a locally installed system.

Ora 03 (formerly Funky Cat)
Ora's entry into Israel was made under the expectation of significant success, certainly with lower prices than Chinese electric crossovers such as the Geely Geometric C and BYD Auto 3. In practice, the brand does not really rise, some of the reasons can be subjective such as the design that does not "come" easily to everyone and some Objectivity such as calibrating warning systems is too hysterical, human engineering is not brilliant and above all a very small trunk of 228 liters.
It's also not exactly the profile of the traditional family sedan, but we saw fit to include it due to it being the only family-sized electric alternative, which will save you NIS 100 more than NIS 140,000.
The car itself is well equipped, with very good performance certainly compared to gasoline competitors, the 48 kWh battery provides a declared range of 310 km, good driving comfort and reasonable road behavior.
Another consideration in the case of the Ora is its maintenance interval of 30,000 km or two years and a 5-year service package.

Skoda Scala, launched in Israel, now arrives after a facelift/manufacturer website
Skoda Scala
The Scala is Skoda's compact family and comes with the same approach of a balanced package of efficiency, quality and space.
Its dimensions and configuration, between mini station and maxi-hatchback make it useful and suitable for small families that need a little more than a super mini.
About eight months ago, the car underwent a facelift and with it it renews the marketing in Israel, this time in only one version.
The changes in the facelift concern the design of the front of the vehicle and the passenger compartment, a digital dashboard and a new design for the controls on the steering wheel.
And if we touched on the passenger compartment, the Scala has an advantage over many cars, even more expensive ones, in the form of air conditioning vents for those sitting in the back seats.
The safety package still includes automatic braking even in reverse, lane departure correction, adaptive cruise control and more.
The number of airbags increased in the facelift from 7 to 9.
