A ruling from the Turin court will force the Ministry of Transport to modify a 2021 decree regarding the 'driving license bonus' for foreign citizens.
This is what Asgi (association for legal studies on immigration) states, which supported an appeal presented in the Piedmontese capital by an Ecuadorian.
The 'bonus' is a contribution that allows hauliers to obtain a reimbursement - up to 2,500 euros - of the expenses incurred to acquire a driving license.
The law in force "provides that only citizens and Europeans can access the bonus - observes Asgi - even if this limitation was not foreseen by the instituting law".
The association, claiming that the provision is "illegitimate and unjustified", had turned to the ministry: a dispute arose which was closed in Turin with "the modification of the decree. Not only has the Ecuadorian acquired the right to reimbursement of school expenses guide, but "the requirement of Italian and European citizenship has been eliminated". As a result of the ruling, according to Asgi, the ranking of those entitled will have to be reformulated.
