The Easter holidays bring Germany onto the streets.
It is expected that there will be a lot of traffic jams.
But the climax doesn't come until Easter.
Just like at Christmas, the family comes together at Easter.
The result: Lots of traffic jams on the roads as many people travel across Germany to celebrate the holidays with their loved ones.
However, if you plan cleverly, you can avoid holiday traffic on the motorways.
Even if traffic overall has increased significantly.
And it really picks up speed at the weekend.
The Easter holidays begin in eleven federal states and some neighboring states.
“Schools are closing in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
“Hamburg, Bremen and Lower Saxony have been on vacation for a week,” emphasizes the

The
ACE,
on the other hand, assumes that traffic on Sunday will be “significantly more relaxed”.

ADAC expects traffic jams to peak on Maundy Thursday

According to the automobile club, things get particularly bad on Maundy Thursday.
In 2019 it was one of the five busiest days of the year.
“Good Friday, March 29th, and Holy Saturday, March 30th are also unlikely to be free of traffic jams,” writes the
ADAC

A lot of traffic jams can also be expected on April 1st and the following days due to the long weekend.
The least traffic jams are expected on Easter Sunday, March 31st.
