The average price of car insurance in February was 395 euros, up on an annual basis by 6.5% in nominal terms and 5.7% in real terms;
in February there was a deceleration in the increase in motor liability insurance compared to the +7.5% in January.
This is what emerges from IVASS data.
Average prices, it is noted, are lower than the pre-pandemic period (406 euros in February 2019).
Price increases were recorded on a provincial basis ranging between 1.8% in Ragusa and 11.0% in Aosta.
The premium differential between Naples and Aosta is 252 euros, a decrease of 3% compared to the previous year.
For insured persons belonging to merit classes higher than the first, the price increase is 9.3%.
"The rise in car insurance rates determines a blow of around 780 million euros on an annual basis to the burden of Italian motorists".
This was stated by Codacons, commenting on new data on insurance provided today by Ivass.
According to the calculations made by Codacons, the increase in tariffs of +6.5% in February is equivalent to an increase of +24 euros per policy compared to the tariffs of February 2023, and brings the average cost of car insurance to 395 euros - analyzes the 'association - If we consider that there are 43 million insured vehicles circulating in Italy, of which 32.5 million are cars, the blow to car insurance reaches the maxi-figure of 780 million euros per year for the motorists category alone.
The increases in policies are also extremely diversified across the territory - explains Codacons - Aosta records the heaviest annual increase in prices, with rates rising by +11% in February, followed by Padua, Alessandria, Belluno and Brindisi with increases of more than +9.2%.
Ragusa is the city where policies grow the least, only +1.8% in February, +2.4% in Cuneo, +3.1% in La Spezia.
