The Hamamatsu company will in fact be present in an official form at the third round of the 2024 FIM EWC World Endurance Championship, with a project in the name of sustainability and carbon neutrality.

In particular, the GSX-R1000R with which Suzuki will take to the track will be powered by sustainable fuel and equipped with parts and components produced with sustainable technologies.

The bike will be entered in the Experimental category, where it is possible to race with alternative fuels.

The third round of the 2024 FIM EWC World Endurance Championship is scheduled for 19 to 21 July and Suzuki has announced its participation in one of the most hotly contested and prestigious motorcycle Endurance races, the 45th edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours.

The challenge is innovative and sporting at the same time, in one of the historically most selective motorcycle Endurance races, which aims to accelerate, in a competitive context, the development of environmentally efficient technologies but also to collect valuable information for the development of future Suzuki models and the definition of new objectives.

The fuel used, 40% of which is of biological origin, will be certified by the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) and will allow the GSX-R1000R to be entered in the Experimental category, where the use of fuels other than the official EWC one is permitted.

"Suzuki - commented Toshihiro Suzuki, president of Suzuki Motor Corporation - is committed to reallocating resources to promote the development of technologies linked to sustainability. The EWC is an extremely demanding race for the vehicle, for the riders and for the team, obliged to long hours of racing. The development of sustainable fuels and other sustainable products by Yoshimura Japan, which has been at our side for a long time, and other partners, will lead to an improvement in the technologies used in the race and will increase the motivation of the Suzuki personnel who will be employed in this and future competitions."

The challenge is also taken up by Suzuki's technical partners, involved in the development of the motorcycle and supporters of this project: the GSX-R1000R will in fact run with exhaust, tyres, lubricants, fairings and brakes obtained using sustainable technologies.
