The wind and the rain surround Madeira. Since Tuesday, drones and Zodiac have stopped surveying the forests, beaches, seabed and trails of Sao Vicente. Two French tourists, Véronique and Laurent Blond, have disappeared since March 16 in this locality in the north of the Portuguese island. A surveillance camera near their vacation home filmed them at 2:49 p.m., walking east, near the coast. Then nothing. An investigation was opened in Madeira and in France.
“We are working on the information and, depending on the new information we have, we will decide whether or not to resume the search,” the commissioner in charge of the investigation, João Góis, explained to the local press on Tuesday. The numerous rescuers, firefighters, gendarmes and investigators mobilized did not gather any clues around the French vacation spot, located in a rugged and densely wooded landscape.
