One of the executive producers of the series "The Three Body Problem" on Netflix is Lin Qi, the founder of the popular Chinese gaming company Yoozoo. But the credit that Lin deserves comes after his death. He was murdered at the age of 39 by his CEO, also his age, who after a trial that lasted over three years was convicted last Friday and sentenced to death for his actions, a day after the premiere of the series on Netflix.

Lin, a young and ambitious Chinese billionaire, purchased the rights to the book series by Liu Chashin with the aim of creating different products from it. To this end, he recruited the expertise of the lawyer Xu Yao. He appointed him as CEO to lead the business activities, including obtaining a deal with Netflix - an achievement for which Lin compensated Xu with a salary of nearly three million dollars .

However, Shaw's performance fell short of expectations beyond the deal with Netflix, leading Lin to reduce his salary to $750,000 and bring in additional executives to improve business operations. According to reports, Shaw, who retained his CEO title, was furious at the demotion. His anger was further exacerbated when he realized he was not being named a producer on the Netflix project.

Driven by revenge, and inspired by the TV show Breaking Bad, Shaw carefully planned Lynn's murder. He founded a company in Japan and purchased 160 phones, with which he procured through the dark web the chemicals needed for his plan. Shaw tested the substances through animal experiments and four of his colleagues, including his replacement, by infusing the poison into their food and drink. The substitute was soon hospitalized with poisoning but recovered, prompting Shaw to increase the dose by tens of meters. The changer's wife was also injured after drinking from her husband's glass. Blood tests showed she had mercury poisoning and forced her to stop breastfeeding.

In December 2020, Xu prepared 30 bottles with probiotic capsules, exchanged some of them with the poisoned ones and brought them to Lin under the pretext that it was a health supplement. The entrepreneur consumed them without suspicion, and quickly his condition deteriorated and he went into a coma. At the hospital it was immediately clear that it was poisoning, although the specific poisons were not known. The police suspected Shaw that if he had revealed the nature of the poisons - which in retrospect turned out to include exotic substances such as Abu Nafha fish poison, mercury and at least three other poisons - he could have saved Lin's life. However, he chose not to, which ensured Lin's death nine days later.

The other colleagues poisoned by Shaw survived, but two were left scarred for life.
