Discussions on the Stellantis factories start today at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, led by Adolfo Urso

.

"The government has already given, it has put in place a policy for the car, how to change the European policy on the car sector, it has created an incentive plan for innovation and created an incentive plan for the car. Now it's up to to the company adapting its industrial

and financial plan to what the Italian system expects, not the government but the Italian system". This was said

by the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso

, at the end of the Stellantis table on Melfi with the unions. "I understand that Tavares protects the interests of the shareholders, but the government protects the interests of the Italians", underlined the minister. "Even the other manufacturers who do not yet have sites in Europe know that European politics is changing and therefore several car manufacturers without production sites in the EU are being sought.

Italy is a very attractive country because it is the only country with a single car manufacturer"

specified the Minister of Business and Made in Italy. "I think the number of car manufacturers that have approached this ministry is now 6-7, even 8", explained the minister.

Data on car sales in March in Italy will be released today with car manufacturers still waiting for government ecobonuses of up to 13,500 euros for a total amount of 950 million. The Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti has given the green light, but the passage to Palazzo Chigi is still missing. Then there will be the checks by the Court of Auditors which will have a maximum of one month for its checks.

It is therefore presumable that the incentives will not be actually available until May. The first meeting with Minister Urso was the one

on the Melfi factory

in which Stellantis did not participate due to the "company policy linked to meetings during the electoral campaign period".

Tomorrow it will be Mirafiori's turn, one of the plants on which the unions' greatest concerns are concentrated.

Precisely to team up on the fate of the factory on Tuesday in Turin there will be a meeting with the unions and employers' associations promoted by the president of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio and the mayor Stefano Lo Russo. On April 5, the discussion at the ministry will concern Atessa, the Abruzzo plant where Stellantis commercial vehicles are manufactured, while in the following weeks it will be the turn of Cassino, Pomigliano, Modena and Termoli. Minister Urso's goal, declared several times, is to reach "at least one million vehicles produced in our country" with Stellantis.

In previous meetings with the government, the company reiterated "the centrality of Italy in the group's global strategy and the desire to create a sustainable future for Italian activities" with the ambition of reaching 1 million vehicles (cars and commercial vehicles ) at the end of the Dare Forward 2030 plan. To increase car production Urso would like to bring another manufacturer to Italy, but no announcements are expected. It is a process still ongoing and attention is focused on the Asian and North American markets: Chinese companies and Tesla are possible candidates. The incentive plan developed by the government, which also concerns cars with low-emission combustion engines, will be able to lend a hand to Stellantis and boost sales in particular of the electric 500 produced in Mirafiori. The plan aims to stimulate the scrapping of highly polluting cars, the Euro 0, 1, 2 and 3, which still make up 25% of the fleet in circulation in our country, but also to help families with low incomes, through a gradual system that provides more significant benefits for families with ISEE up to 30 thousand euros.
