Shannon Doherty, the star of the series "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Bewitched", said that she is in the process of giving up her possessions as part of her battle with advanced metastatic breast cancer.

In the latest episode of her "Let's Be Clear" podcast, the actress revealed the complex process of giving it up, which involved going through her belongings and a collection of antique furniture she had accumulated over many years. Doherty said that despite the emotional difficulty of giving up valuable and meaningful items, her decision stemmed from a deep understanding that these material objects no longer bring her true joy.

"It feels like giving up something that was special and important to you," Doherty explained, "but you know it's the right thing to do and that it will give you a sense of peace and relaxation. Because you're helping the people you'll leave behind to have a cleaner and easier transition."

Instead of continuing to store old furniture, Doherty decided to sell a large part of it and invest the money in family experiences and trips together with her close family members. "I don't enjoy this furniture and neither do others, so why would I keep it? Do I really need three dining tables?" the actress asked herself. "The answer is no, none of us really need all that stuff. We can all cut back a little and not become addicted hoarders, which is what I've done with all my furniture," Doherty added candidly.

She revealed that selling the items will help her create unforgettable experiences and memories with the people she cares about. "I remember myself asking only things, and what really brings me great joy is taking my mother to the places she always wanted to go and making memories with the people I love."

Doherty, who is bravely sharing her battle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, recounted an emotional experience she recently had while traveling in Italy with her mother. "She had tears streaming down her cheeks because she really didn't think she would see it, and she certainly didn't think she could see it with me," Doherty recalled excitedly. "These are the things that matter most. Not your possessions, not what you have."

Last November, Doherty revealed in an interview with People magazine that her breast cancer had spread to her bones. She was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 2015, and after two years of treatments she recovered. But the cancer returned in 2019, and a year later Doherty updated that she is in the fourth stage, the most difficult of all, of the terminal disease. Last June she announced that the cancer had also spread to the brain.
