SU7, the new electric car from the Xiaomi brand, in the first 24 hours of its launch on the Chinese market, was ordered for almost 90 thousand units, precisely, it received 88,898 orders. Carnewschina.com reports it. A figure which, considering the initial production capacity of 150,000 cars per year, indicates the exhaustion of orders for the current year. A success, therefore, also amplified by the fact that the equivalent of around 800 euros would have been enough to block the order. The price, in China, would have been designed to lower that of the Tesla Model 3, which is the designated rival, by around 4,100 dollars, just under 4,000 euros. The cost of the Xiaomi SU7 with 60 kWh battery, the entry level battery, in China thus falls below the psychological threshold of 30,000 dollars, in practice just under 28,000 euros.

The car that is produced in Beijing sees the AWD variant at the top of the range with a 101 kWh battery and 663 HP of power, with a declared autonomy of around 800 km.

The electric car makes Xiaomi fly, it is worth more than GM and Ford

Xiaomi rushes to the stock market in the wake of last week's presentation of its first electric sports vehicle SU7: the initiative of the Chinese electronics manufacturer, from smartphones to devices of various types, has aroused strong interest from the market, rewarding the stocks traded on the stock exchange in Hong Kong, up 8.57% after an intraday peak of 16%.

The Beijing-based company added about $7.6 billion to its stock market value as its shares hit their highest since January 2022 on the first day of trading since the launch of its car that takes styling cues from Porsche. The Chinese company, which derives most of its $37.5 billion in revenue from smartphones, has a valuation of $55.2 billion, higher than traditional U.S. automakers General Motors and Ford, respectively, at $52. 4 and 53.1 billion.

Xiaomi's SU7, short for Speed Ultra 7, enters China's crowded electric vehicle market with an attention-grabbing price tag: less than $30,000 for the base model, cheaper than Tesla's Model 3 in China.

The company said on Friday that it had received 88,898 pre-orders for the car in the first 24 hours of sale - a figure which, considering the initial annual production capacity of 150,000 cars, indicates that orders have run out for the current year.
