These new counterfeiters are throwing into oblivion the nimble-fingered crooks capable of skillfully creating falsified identity documents on paper. Two young men, aged 20 and 23, were brought before the Paris prosecutor's office on Thursday March 28. They are suspected of having, for around three years, in the Paris region and throughout France, operated an pharmacy which offered false digital documents on their websites, Selkisscan and Selkisonline.

It was in August 2022 that investigators from Oltim (Office for Combating Smuggling of Migrants) received information on the hidden activities of these two platforms, freely accessible via any search engine. “Initially, it is gamers who offer gaming solutions,” explains Fabrice Saugner, the deputy director of the Office. Counterfeiters 2.0 also offered false identity cards, French, Italian and, to a lesser extent, American driving licenses.
