It took the jurors more than eleven hours to reach their verdict. This Thursday evening, Hakim Karki, former investigating judge of the Mamoudzou court, was sentenced to 10 years of criminal imprisonment for the rape of Sabine (first name changed), almost 10 years ago on the island of Mayotte. That is, two years more than the sentence handed down at first instance in December 2022 by the Paris Assize Court.
A few minutes before the announcement of this verdict, Hakim Karki, blue jacket and yellow tie, surrounded by a few relatives, varied between smiling and serious in the room of the lost steps of the court of Créteil (Val-de-Marne). After hearing the verdict and listening to the reading of the reasons, he stands, this Thursday evening, with his face in his hands.
