This is how it looks on normal days. Route 431/Reuben Castro
One of the main roads in the lowlands, road 431, was blocked this morning by a surprise to traffic by the police, in the busy section between the Inaba interchange on highway 1 near Modi'in, and the Nesher interchange in Ramla. The blockade created huge traffic jams on the Jerusalem Tel Aviv road and in the Modi'in area that continue even now.
The blockade was decided by the Yuval Routes Company, the concessionaire of the road, after it became clear that the works on the railway along the road damaged the protection of the road layers and led to water seepage which caused the asphalt to sink and there was a fear of the formation of sinkholes. The problem was already identified last week. First one lane was blocked, then two, and only this morning it was decided to completely block it.
Teams of the tributary routes are now working to strengthen the protection of the road with concrete castings, and only at night will it be decided whether it can be opened to traffic, or whether the severe disruptions will continue tomorrow as well. In the meantime, the police advise drivers to use alternative routes.
