A 25-year-old young woman died of her injuries after being hit by a vehicle on March 31 in Brest, according to a press release from the prosecutor's office. The incident took place at the access ramp to the city's commercial port.
Initially on the run, the driver of the vehicle went to the police and was indicted. He is currently in pre-trial detention following a decision by the judge of liberty.
A wild rodeo at the origin of the accident
The collision took place shortly after 1:40 a.m. In addition to the deceased woman, another 26-year-old man was struck down by the car, a Peugeot 208 with several people on board. Identified by several witnesses on site, the vehicle was seen traveling at very high speed just before the incident.
Searches around the suspected driver's home led to the discovery of the car in question. Later that night, one of his passengers went to hospital injured and was then taken into police custody. Another passenger came forward to the police, citing a wild speed race in which the vehicle was involved.

The driver was received by the authorities at the end of the day. According to the Brest public prosecutor's office, a judicial investigation was opened against him, in particular for involuntary homicide and use of narcotics.
