A second body was found in Madeira (Portugal), where Véronique and Laurent Blond, two French tourists, have been missing since March 16.
This second body was located in the same area as the first, itself found on Thursday, and which could be that of Véronique Blond, Le Parisien learned, confirming information from La Dépêche. This French couple from Tarn-et-Garonne had not given any sign of life after a hike.
“Yesterday the body of a woman was discovered on a path in the municipality of Sao Vicente in Madeira. In addition, following new research, the corpse of a man was also discovered today,” said this Friday at midday, in a press release, the Montauban prosecutor, Bruno Sauvage.
Investigations must continue to formally identify the two bodies found as being those of the couple of bakers from Beaumont-de-Lomagne (Tarn-et-Garonne), who had no longer given any sign of life after going for a walk, during from their vacation with their 27-year-old daughter in Sao Vicente, on the north coast of Madeira.
The disappearance of the couple, who had lived in this southwestern town for seven years, following a professional retraining, has aroused strong emotion among the village's residents for three weeks. “Not everyone is aware of the news yet, those who know are blaming the blow, it’s quite sad,” confided this Friday morning, on the telephone, a shopkeeper, neighbor of Véronique and Laurent Blond’s bakery.
