A counterfeiter of luxury watches, Julien V., a French expatriate in Thailand who sold his counterfeits among other things on his Telegram channel, was sentenced on Friday in Paris a colossal customs fine of 206 million euros, as well as 4 and a half years in prison.

Florian R., the administrator of this channel, which also traded in false documents and consultation of police files, was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment to which is added the revocation of 8 months of suspended prison time. He and the forger will also have to pay 200,000 euros to customs.

The trial of this platform opened on March 4 in Paris. In total, around fifty offenses were accused of the eight defendants, including the sale of counterfeit goods, the importation of smuggled forgeries, money laundering, active corruption, or even aiding illegal stay, in an organized gang.

Rolex, Cartier, Boucheron… the fake market

From November 2019 to February 2022, the Genevarie's main activity was the sale of counterfeit luxury jewelry (Rolex, Patek Philip, Cartier, Boucheron) - the name was chosen in reference to Geneva, the capital of fine watchmaking.

Then the services expanded, with false identity cards, ready in 24 to 48 hours, boat licenses for 1,200 euros after two weeks of waiting, car and motorcycle codes for 125 euros.

Also sold in exchange for cash, bank transfers and cryptocurrency, fake credits or bank accounts, withdrawals of license points or falsified health passes. Other services on this “forgery fair”: access to various police files, including TAJ (processing of criminal records), the FPR for wanted persons or the SIV (the municipal vehicle registration system).
