The scene is particularly impressive: on the evening of Friday April 5, a car slammed head-on into the window of the restaurant “Le Chat qui peche” in Etel, in Morbihan, before fleeing. Filmed and broadcast on social networks, the collision left seven people injured. The driver was quickly arrested.

According to the Lorient public prosecutor's office, the driver of the vehicle, a 58-year-old man from the region, was already known for a criminal record dating back to 2002.
“Apparent” drunkenness
According to information provided by Lorient prosecutor Stéphane Kellenberger, the man first presented himself “in an apparent state of intoxication in a drinking establishment located on the port of Etel”. He would then have been refused by the manager of the establishment, helped by customers, given his condition.
The suspect then borrowed a “utility vehicle” before driving into the window of the restaurant a little further away. On the video of the incident, several people can be seen trying to stop the driver, without success.
The man immediately fled, but was arrested “a few minutes later, around 10:15 p.m.” by the police, who also noted his blood alcohol level.
“I was thrown”
The seven people injured by the vehicle were treated by emergency services. Among them, five escaped without incident, one with two days of ITT, and one with one day of ITT. The owner of the restaurant, contacted by France Bleu Armorique, said he was “morally shocked” by the incident and described the scene: “I was thrown, I wanted to stop him, he rushed at me. »
According to the Lorient public prosecutor's office, "the accused is currently in police custody, for these offenses of aggravated violence with a weapon (by destination), aggravated destruction and driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol."
