Honda Civic Type R/manufacturer

The District Court in Tel Aviv approved the compromise settlement in the request for a class action filed against the Honda importer, Meir Company. The amount to be paid by the company: NIS 2.5 million.

The lawsuit was filed by lawyers Amit Ben Aroya and Shira Blum-Wolf, on behalf of Guy Cohen, who purchased a Civic 1.5 Turbo model 2019, and was surprised to find that it required an oil change every 5,000 km. This is a higher frequency than the annual maintenance for most drivers, and has been for a long time It is not accepted in the market today, when in modern cars the oil is changed every 15 to 30 thousand km, and sometimes not even two years.

Cohen claimed that there is no trace of the requirement in the vehicle books and service warranty booklets. The Meir company claimed that this is not a malfunction, but a feature that the car manufacturer implemented in the vehicles equipped with turbo engines that were manufactured in the years 2017-2023. The company claimed that the vehicle's computer determines the timing of the change, according to the driving style of the specific driver and that therefore in these vehicles the frequency of changing the engine oil may differ from the periodic treatment routine.
