The bodies of the two children were found in a field in Forges-les-Bains, about forty kilometers south of Paris, during the night from Thursday to Friday. They “presented traces of stab wounds, a weapon which was discovered near the victims,” the prosecution said in a press release released Friday evening.
The father, suspected of the murder, was placed in police custody on Friday evening, before being indicted and placed in pre-trial detention for assassinations, the Évry prosecutor's office said this Sunday. “The autopsy established that the cause of the children's death was the result of the blows with the kitchen knife found at the scene of the events”, a field in Forges-les-Bains, the prosecution said in a press release.
The investigations, entrusted to the Palaiseau research brigade as well as to the research section of the Paris gendarmerie, “are now continuing under the authority of the investigating magistrate to determine precisely the circumstances of the commission of these criminal acts” , added this same source.
A complaint for domestic violence
The 34-year-old man, who lives in Yvelines, admitted in police custody to having killed his two children on Thursday evening, said the public prosecutor, Grégoire Dulin.
“If he had difficulty explaining the reasons for his action, it appeared that the relationship within the couple was conflicting in a context of separation,” added the magistrate.
The mother of the two children had filed a complaint against her partner Thursday afternoon for domestic violence committed between December 2023 and early February 2024, according to the prosecution. Emergency services intervened on Thursday evening shortly before midnight “for an accident involving a single vehicle”, indicates the prosecution in its press release. Taken in by emergency services, the driver then told a caregiver that he wanted to commit suicide by crashing his car into a tree after killing his two children and abandoning their bodies.
