Vincent L. was the sacristan of the Notre-Dame-de l'Assomption-de-Nice basilica.
According to corroborating sources, this inhabitant of Nice is one of the victims of the stabbing attack which claimed the lives of three people this Thursday morning around 9 am in the city center of the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes.
Vincent L. was said to have been slaughtered by the assailant.
Lay employee of the parish (non-member of the clergy), he was in charge of welcoming the faithful from the opening of the doors around 8:30 am.
He also organized the proper conduct of masses and ceremonies.
Aged "between 45 and 50 years" and father of two children according to a member of the parish, he is described as "a bon vivant", "expansive" and "sympathetic".

"He did his job as a sacristan very well," testifies with sadness Gil Florini, parish priest at the Saint-Pierre-d'Arène-de-Nice church.
This Thursday morning, there was no mass at the basilica.
"Vincent had been working as a sacristan for five years," adds Anthony Borré, first assistant to the town hall of Nice.
He was known as a devoted person and appreciated by all ”.
The announcement of his disappearance and the death of two faithful, a man and a woman, plunged the city and the bishopric of Nice into astonishment and sadness.
In reaction and as a security measure, all places of worship, Catholics, Jews and Muslims, were immediately closed in Nice on Thursday.
