(CNN Spanish) - The manager of the audit firm Ethical Hacking, contacted by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Bolivia (TSE) to conduct an audit of the electoral process, said in an interview with the University Television of Bolivia that the process was “vitiated by nullity".

Álvaro Andrade explained that they reported to the TSE, several vulnerabilities and among them was the Transmission of Partial Preliminary Electoral Results (TREP).

“It was possible to intercept and read all the TREP communications. That meant you could see the votes and change them, ”Andrade explained.

"There were about seven critical vulnerabilities," said Andrade. Several of them, he explained, exposed sensitive information and allowed the manipulation of electoral records.

Andrade revealed that the authorities of the TSE asked to see the results of the TREP before making them public, when the difference was 10% between the party of the current president Evo Morales and that of the candidate for the Citizen Community, Carlos Mesa. Andrade reports that when they received the votes of Santa Cruz the difference was reduced, which offered the possibility of a second round. "It was then that the transmission was suspended," said Andrade.

The Supreme Electoral Court said in a statement that "it was verified that there was no data alteration or cyber attack." The statement adds that "after exhaustive reviews and validations, it was determined that there was no hacking or alteration to the database and the TREP was brought online again."
