(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 5 - Turkish President Recep TayyipErdogan has announced the "progressive" sending of Turkish soldiers to Libya. The deployment of troops to Libya has already started, Erdogan announced. In recent days, Ankara's parliament had given green light to military support against the Tripoli government of Fayez al-Sarraj.
In Libya "our aim is to make the legitimate government survive" by Fayez al-Sarraj. "The Turkish army is there to guarantee a ceasefire, not to fight", and to try to "avoid humanitarian tragedies," Erdogan said, announcing in a TV interview the "gradual" sending of troops against Khalifa Haftar's forces .
