Coronavirus: the threshold of 5,000 deaths crossed in Belgium

The coronavirus pandemic has caused the death of more than 5,000 people in Belgium, one of the European countries with the highest mortality, according to the last official assessment communicated Friday by the health authorities.

The 313 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours bring the death toll to 5,163 deaths, in this country of some 11.5 million inhabitants. Half of these deaths (2,586) were recorded in retirement homes, it was clarified during a press conference.
