(ANSA) - PARIS, JUNE 19 - Crystal glasses, silverware, tablecloths, sheets and linens of the Hotel Ritz in Paris will go on sale from Sunday to Tuesday at the Artcurial auction house, two years after the sale of its historic furnishings.
Famous all over the world, the ancient hotel in Place Vendome - the subject of important renovation works in recent years - has been frequented by personalities such as Marcel Proust, Ernest Hemingway, Coco Chanel or Audrey Hepburn.
Some of them dined on those same tablecloths, drank in the same glasses, slept in the same sheets that will now go to the auction. About 1,500 lots are as many testimonies of the "art of the table and the art de vivre allafrancese", writes Artcurial.
The sale, which was initially expected to take place in early April, was postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic. The basic estimates vary from 100/150 euros to 4,000 / 6,000 euros and are therefore not reserved only for Scrooge. Two ashtrays of the famous Ritz are sold at an initial price of 100/150 euros while a Christofle service trolley is estimated at around 4,000 / 6,000 euros.
