The Berlin-Brandenburg state laboratory had suspected a

wild boar carcass that was

found a few kilometers from the German-Polish border in the Spree-Neisse district, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture announced on Wednesday.

African swine fever is very similar to classic or European swine fever (KSF) in symptoms and course, but is mainly localized in Africa.

In recent years there have been repeated cases in Europe.

The disease has never occurred in Germany.
