(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 11 - The United States yesterday recorded 54,639 new cases of coronavirus and 618 further deaths caused by the disease: Johns Hopkins University reports on its website.

The number of infections represents a drop of 4.8% compared to last Friday's level (57,420).

The new data bring the total of infections in the country to 7,717,932 and that of deaths to 214,370.
