First look at the temperature forecast from December 30 to January 7▼▼▼

On Christmas Day, it’s warm, but it’s freezing again on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day!

The Observatory said that due to the strong cold wave associated with the cold front, the temperature in southern China has dropped significantly. The weather is "severely cold" on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The minimum temperature in the urban area is 7 or 8 degrees, and the area is only 3 degrees, which is very cold.

If calculated with the lowest temperature of 7 degrees, New Year’s Eve in 2020 is expected to be the coldest New Year’s Eve in history, breaking the current record of 6.9 degrees set in 1913 and 1983 respectively. Remember to keep warm!

Is it colder this winter?

However, the strong cold wave may just be the beginning. It is related to the fact that the Observatory pointed out on Facebook earlier that it is expected that the temperature in Hong Kong this winter (December to February) will be "normal to low" due to the developing La Nina and the strong northeast monsoon. The chances are higher, and it seems that I have to prepare more thick clothes this year.
