Dominated by Sweden on Friday (32-26) in the semi-final of the Handball World Cup in Egypt, the France team was no match for its great Spanish rival.
The Blues bowed without glory to Spain (29 to 35), during the "small final" between the defeated semi-finals, and will therefore leave Cairo without a medal.
It was the first campaign of Guillaume Gille, the former player who became coach of the Blues.
He took over from Didier Dinart, ousted after the Euro fiasco last year.
