Washington-Sana

An earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale struck the Alaskan Peninsula, but no injuries or damage were reported.

"The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km," the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center said in a statement, while the warning system ruled out a tsunami after the quake.

Alaska is located above the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area where tectonic plates meet, and the friction of which leads to strong seismic and volcanic activity.
