An earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale struck western Haiti, with no reports of human or material injuries.
Reuters quoted the US Geological Survey as saying: "The quake occurred 8 kilometers from the town of Petite Trou de Nieps, at a depth of 10 kilometers."
No tsunami warnings were issued after the quake.
