The death toll from the earthquake that struck southwestern Haiti yesterday, with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale, has risen to 304, with 1,800 injured.

"The devastating earthquake, which occurred eight kilometers from the town of Petite Trou de Nieps and at a depth of 10 kilometers, killed 304 people, injured 1,800 others, and caused significant material damage or destruction to churches, hotels, hospitals and schools," Reuters reported.

The previous outcome indicated that 227 people were killed in the earthquake.

The poorest country in the American continent is still remembering the devastating earthquake that occurred on January 12, 2010 and destroyed the capital and many cities, and that day more than 200 thousand people died and more than 300 others were injured, in addition to the displacement of one and a half million residents.
