Andrés Ramírez Silva, head of the Mexican Commission for Aid to Refugees (Comar), says that from January to August Mexico broke a record in the number of refugee applications it receives, surpassing the figure registered in 2019, when approximately 70,400 applicants were registered.
The official details that citizens of 97 countries seek refuge in Mexico, and that there is an upward trend among Haitians from Chile and Brazil.
